Friday Night South Buffalo Ride

It had been a few weeks since I went on a Friday night ride with Bug and the gang so after a day of busting up a concrete floor I took 20 minute nap, pumped up my tires, oiled my chain, replaced my light batteries, adjusted my brakes, grabbed a 12 pack and wheeled off!

We met over by the David statue near Elmwood and set off onto Granger Place, swung by the Frank Lloyd Wright House and continued south down Elmwood. Eventually we pulled up to the half torn down Aud. I visited it last Sunday and it sure was a sight to see. At this point it was dark outside and fireworks from Dunn Tire Park started to blast off. I guess they have fireworks every Friday night after the ball games. I tried to snap a photo but it came out really horribly, but like I already said, it sure was a sight to see.

So, after a few minutes of Bug and Richard helping some strangers steal some bricks from the Aud and after Mean ole Al finally fixed his bike, we hit the trail behind the Rail House along the Buffalo River. We stopped for a piss near this old fire boat, which Bug said it was the oldest fire boat in America. Not sure I believe him or not yet. Anyhow, I grabbed a few snapshots of the old boat and the old firehouse, chugged a 24 ouncer and we wheeled away.

After what seemed like forever we finally got close to Richards buddy Chad Johnson’s house. We decided to stop for pizza because at this point because we definitely needed some calories. We grabbed some slices, shotgunned a 24 ounce Budweiser and than preceded to roll up to Mr. Johnson’s house around 11pm. We chilled out, drank some beers and even played some instruments for a little over two hours.

We decided to head back, but just as we were pedaling the first few rotations… it started to downpour. Oh, it was horrible. I don’t think I have been that wet in a while. On the way back we stopped for a bit at the end of the Erie Canal and Swung by the oldest tree in Buffalo but other than that it was raining pretty bad and we just wanted to get inside.

Other than the rain, great ride… great ride!
